See which of your keywords get an AI Overview, and whether it cites you

Google now answers many searches with an AI Overview above the results. SEOpen's AI Overview tracker checks your tracked keywords every week and records three things: whether an AI Overview appears, whether it links to your site, and which sites it cites instead. It runs alongside your daily rankings, on every plan.

What you see

  • Where the Overviews are

Every tracked keyword is marked as showing an AI Overview or not, so you can see how much of your search traffic now sits under one.
  • Whether you're a source

When an Overview links to one of your pages, SEOpen records it and which page it was. Filter your keywords to cited, shown but not citing you, or no Overview.
  • Who's cited instead

The domains Google picks as sources for your keywords. Often it's a forum, a video or one competitor's guide, and that tells you what kind of page wins.
  • Rank and Overview side by side

A keyword where you rank fourth but aren't cited is a different job from one where you rank twentieth. Both numbers sit on the same row.

How it runs

  1. Once

    Track your keywords

Add the keywords you already care about. The same list feeds daily rank tracking and the AI Overview check, so there's nothing extra to set up.
  2. Every week

    A deeper sweep

Once a week, on Sunday unless you pick another day, SEOpen checks deeper into the results and loads the AI Overview for each keyword, with its cited sources.
  3. On demand

    Check one now

Changed a page and want to know if Google noticed? A deep check reruns a keyword with its AI Overview straight away.

What it doesn't do

So you can decide before you sign up, not after.

  • Overviews are loaded in the weekly sweep and on demand, not in the daily check. Google shows them inconsistently, so a daily reading would mostly be noise.
  • It tracks AI Overviews in Google's regular results, not the separate AI Mode tab.
  • Country level only: 16 countries, no city level tracking.
  • It shows whether you're cited, not why. The cited pages are listed so you can read what they do differently.

Questions

What is an AI Overview tracker?
A tool that records which searches show a Google AI Overview and which sites the Overview cites. Regular rank trackers record your position in the blue links; an Overview tracker records whether you're in the answer above them.
Can I see whether an AI Overview cites my site?
Yes. For each tracked keyword with an Overview, SEOpen records whether one of your pages is among its sources, and which page.
Why do my rankings and my AI Overview citations differ?
Google picks Overview sources separately from the ranking order. The cited pages aren't always the top organic results, which is why it's worth tracking both.
Does the AI Overview check cost extra?
No. It's part of rank tracking on Starter and Pro and never uses research credits.
Which countries can I track?
Sixteen, including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland, India, Germany, France, Spain and Japan. Each keyword can be checked on desktop or mobile.
